How to Root Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 [Hacks]

The phone runs on Android 2.3.5 and can be upgraded to 2.3.6 Gingerbread officially through WIFI and 2.3.7 unofficially. Yes, of course this is a phone with low budget but can’t boost high end specifications, but will remain a gorgeous entry-level phone and a phone that you can modify and improve with custom ROMs.  Before flashing the Samsung Galaxy Y S5360, it must be rooted.

  • USB cable
  • The battery power of the Smartphone must be 60% at least, so that it keeps the device active all through the rooting process.
  • You must keep backups of all data separately before rooting your device.
  • Stop all the system security tools such as firewall programs, antivirus and Samsung KIES in order to continue rooting without any interruption.
  • You must tap on the Menu-> Settings->Application->Development->USB debugging. Make sure that USB debugging is checked.

How to root your Samsung Galaxy Y

Step 1: Download the Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 root package in your computer.
Step 2: Connect your device to your computer via USB cable.
Step 3: Now copy the downloaded file to your Smartphone’s storage.
Step 4: After finish there is no need of connection so, unplug the USB cable.
Step 5: Just switch off your phone to go to the next step.
Step 6: It’s time to boot you phone in recovery mode and it is done by holding the Volume Up key and Home key or the middle key at the same time, while tapping the Power button.
Step 7: With the help of Volume key, highlight the option “install zip from SD card” and the Power button to tap on to select it.
Step 8: You can initiate the rooting process of your phone by locating and then selecting the rooting package file write as ‘update.zip’.
Step 9: When the rooting is all over the Galaxy Y will reboot automatically and this proves that your phone is now rooted.
Step 10: Now download BusyBox installer APK file in your computer.
Step 11: Via USB cable connect your Smartphone with your computer and copy the APK file in the microSD card.
Step 12: It’s time to install the BusyBox on your device.
Step 13: Now unplug the USB cable from the computer and switch off you phone.
Step 14: Reboot it to Recovery mode and instructed the procedure in step 6.
Step 15: Select “Wipe data/factory reset” and select to go next screen and in the next screen select “Wipe Cache Partition” and confirm for next screen.
Step 16: Restart your phone by selecting “Reboot system nowfrom the main menu.
Walla! Your Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 is rooted and ready to try the custom ROM to propel the performance of the Smartphone.
